Trash Talking

December 30th, 2009

Hear the report from the Green Queen.

Your trash is about to go green, and I’m not talking about stinky garbage green.

Your city trash can may be going solar to help reduce the impact on the environment, and it will cost you nothing.

A Solar powered trash can called BigBelly, holds 4-5 times the trash of a current municipal can.

The BigBelly first hit the streets in 2005 and over time these solar compacters have gained popularity. They are now making their way across the country. These cans save cities up to 80% on trash pick up, because it reduces the number of trips needed. If trash had to be emptied every week, it can now go 4-5 weeks in this solar powered compactor.

So call your city or town, and tell them to go green with these high tech trash cans.
